Bryan E. Hughes is a senior corporate communications and public relations professional with 18 years of experience in strategic campaign development and implementation, media training, reputation management and tactical partnerships. Today, Bryan is a sought after independent advisor to a broad range of clients including corporate leaders, non-profit advocacy organizations and entertainment industry executives. Currently, Bryan serves as a communications consultant with GoodPR where he works with clients to develop results-driven communications strategies and strategic messaging. In addition, Bryan recently worked with award-winning independent filmmaker Mark Lewis at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival for the premiere of his latest film, Cane Toads: The Conquest in 3D.

Most recently, Bryan served as Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs for the television network Planet GreenTM, a multiplatform media brand dedicated to sustainable living and environmental awareness. In this role, he developed and implemented the network launch strategy that went on to win PR Week’s “2009 Consumer Launch Campaign of the Year” award. During his tenure at Planet Green, Bryan developed multi-partner initiatives including month-long Earth Day campaigns and Blue August, an entire month of content and outreach dedicated to the world’s oceans and water resources. The Blue August campaign garnered record ratings for the network. In this role, Bryan also oversaw all aspects of publicity for the brand’s digital platforms, Treehugger.com and planetgreen.com, helping the environmentally focused sites grow to more than four million unique monthly visitors in a two-year period.

Prior to Planet Green, Bryan was Vice President of Communications and Strategy for Discovery Communications, Inc. Bryan oversaw strategy and publicity for Discovery’s critically acclaimed theatrical documentary unit, Discovery Films, as well as Discovery Health Media Enterprises and Discovery’s Emerging Networks division. He managed the successful debut of films at the Sundance Film Festival, The Toronto Film Festival and The Tribeca Film Festival, including such critically acclaimed titles as Werner Herzog’s Grizzly Man and Macky Alston’s The Killer Within.

Previously Bryan served as account executive for Washington, D.C. based Kaufman Public Relations where his clients included the National Indian Gaming Association, the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the U.S. Commemorative Coin program.

Bryan earned his [B.A.] degree from the University of Delaware, and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. He resides in Washington, D.C. and the Virginia Shenandoah Valley with his partner Matt and their dog Skye.
